Frequently Asked Questions About Balcony Doors
Answers to the most popular questions about choosing and installing balcony doors
Which balcony doors are better: classic or sliding?
The choice depends on room size and personal preferences. Classic doors are reliable and affordable, suitable for standard balconies. Sliding systems save space, ideal for small rooms and create a panoramic effect, but cost more.
What is the difference between tilt-and-slide (PSK) and lift-and-slide (HSK) doors?
PSK doors have a tilting function for ventilation and are suitable for openings up to 4m. HSK doors are equipped with a lifting mechanism for smooth gliding of heavy sashes, used for large openings up to 6m and provide maximum sealing.
What is a French balcony door?
A French door is a double-sash structure without a center post (mullion), where the sashes adjoin each other with a special lock. When both sashes are opened, a wide opening without a partition in the middle is formed, which is convenient for moving large items.
Which profile is better for a balcony door: 3-chamber or 5-chamber?
A 3-chamber profile is suitable for warm regions and glazed balconies, providing basic thermal insulation. A 5-chamber profile is recommended for cold climates and exits to open balconies — it significantly reduces heat loss and provides better sound insulation.
How much does balcony door installation cost?
Cost depends on structure type, dimensions, selected hardware, and glass unit. Classic doors from 83€, sliding systems — from 34€ per linear meter. Exact price can be determined after free measurement. Installation is included in the order price.
Can a balcony door be installed with or without a threshold?
Yes, both options are possible. A door with a threshold provides better thermal insulation and protection from drafts. A threshold-free structure creates a level floor surface, convenient for strollers and people with disabilities, but requires a special seal.
How long do PVC balcony doors last?
With proper operation and regular maintenance (hardware lubrication, hinge adjustment), PVC balcony doors last 30-40 years. Hardware is rated for 60,000 opening cycles. We provide a 5-year warranty on the structure and 10 years on the profile.
Can a mosquito net be installed on a balcony door?
Yes, special mosquito nets are available for balcony doors: hinged on hinges, sliding, or roller. The choice depends on door type and your preferences. The net is easily removed for winter and does not interfere with door opening.
